Warm, flaky pies filled with juicy ground beef and aromatic spices, perfect for family gatherings or late-night snacks.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 package of flaky pastry crust (or homemade)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Sauté the chopped onions in olive oil over medium heat until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Brown the ground beef in the skillet, seasoning with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Roll out the pastry crust on a floured surface and cut into circles, about 4 inches in diameter.
  5. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
  6. Seal the edges with a fork.
  7. Brush the tops with the egg wash.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffed up.

Notes

Leftover meat pies can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. They freeze well too, for up to three months.
