A quick and succulent Chinese pepper steak stir-fry featuring marinated beef, crisp bell peppers, and aromatic onions, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef steak (flank or sirloin), sliced thinly
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef: In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. Brown the beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.
  3. Sauté garlic and ginger: In the same pan, add the remaining oil along with the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Cook the vegetables: Add the sliced onion and bell pepper; stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Combine everything: Return the beef to the pan and mix everything together. Cook for an additional minute to heat through.
  6. Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes
