Slow Cooker Carnitas

Tender, juicy pork infused with vibrant flavors of orange and lime, perfect for tacos or burritos.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, orange juice, lime juice, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, bay leaf, and chicken broth to the cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, allowing those flavors to meld beautifully.
  4. Once cooked, shred the pork with two forks and mix it with the delicious juices from the cooker.
  5. Serve the carnitas in tacos, burritos, or however your heart desires!

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
