An indulgent yet refreshing take on the classic cheeseburger, combining savory flavors with fresh salad ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups lettuce, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cup pickles, sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • Mustard to taste
  • Ketchup to taste
  • Burger buns (optional, for croutons)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Form ground beef into patties and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Carefully smash the patties onto the hot grill or skillet, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on one side.
  4. Flip the patties over and add a slice of cheddar cheese on top; cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  5. In a bowl, layer fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, pickles, and slices of red onion.
  6. Place the cooked smashed burger on top of the salad ingredients.
  7. Drizzle with mustard and ketchup to taste.
  8. If desired, add toasted bits of burger buns as croutons.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to adjust the toppings and sauces to your liking. Ground turkey or veggie patties work well as substitutes.
