Elevate your classic grilled cheese sandwich with the smoky richness of Gouda and the crisp sweetness of fresh apples.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 ounces of smoked Gouda cheese
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of butter

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Assemble one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  4. Add the smoked Gouda cheese and thin apple slices on top of the bread.
  5. Complete with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  6. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  8. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

This grilled cheese pairs beautifully with tomato soup or a fresh salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
