Deliciously soft and fluffy burger buns that are perfect for summer barbecues and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dough: Add in the melted butter, milk, egg, and salt along with half of the flour. Mix until everything is well combined.
  3. Form the dough: Gradually add the remaining flour, mixing until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead until smooth: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Shape the buns: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a bun and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Second rise: Cover the shaped buns and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven: While the buns are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake the buns: Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
  10. Cool slightly: Allow the buns to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush tops with melted butter after baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
