Soft Pretzel Bites are delightful, warm snacks perfect for any occasion, seasoned with coarse sea salt and great for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour and kosher salt to the yeast mixture and mix until combined. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise for about 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  5. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add baking soda.
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each into a rope. Cut into bite-sized pieces, about 1-2 inches long.
  7. Boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Brush each bite with beaten egg and sprinkle with sea salt.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
