Ingredients

  • 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup salted butter, at room temperature
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375ºF (190ºC) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Scoop the dough into balls, roll in sugar, and place on the baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes until the edges are golden and the tops are crackled.
  8. Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

For best results, ensure your butter is at room temperature and do not overbake for soft cookies.
