A delightful blend of sweet and savory, this Southern Honey Butter Cornbread is soft, fluffy, and perfect with a dollop of honey butter.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a skillet or baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and honey, mixing until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared skillet or dish.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm with additional honey butter if desired.
