A quick and flavorful dish combining ground turkey and rice, drizzled with a spicy bang bang sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water and combine with water in a pot; bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add diced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet and sauté for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add the ground turkey, breaking it into small pieces, and cook until browned with no pink remaining.
  6. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, 1 tablespoon sriracha, and 1 tablespoon honey; simmer for 2 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, remaining 1 tablespoon sriracha, and remaining 1 tablespoon honey to make the bang bang sauce.
  8. Divide the cooked rice among bowls, top with the spicy turkey mixture, and drizzle with bang bang sauce.
  9. Garnish each bowl with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Adjust the spice level by modifying the amount of sriracha used. This recipe can easily be made vegetarian by substituting turkey with lentils or tofu.
