A delightful lemon loaf with the richness of browned butter, reminiscent of café comfort in your own kitchen.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until browned.
  3. Combine the browned butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, sour cream, lemon juice, and lemon zest; blend until smooth.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes.
  8. Cool the loaf before drizzling with a glaze made from powdered sugar and lemon juice.
