Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz macaroni
  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cooked and diced
  • 2 cups pepper jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Once al dente, drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for about 1 minute until a smooth roux forms.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
  5. Stir in the pepper jack cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Fold in the cooked macaroni and the diced steak until well combined.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

For a milder flavor, substitute pepper jack with a mix of mozzarella and cheddar. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
