Delicious Swedish meatballs served in a creamy sauce, perfect for cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp flour

Instructions

  1. Combine the ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice until well combined.
  2. Form the meatballs: Use your hands to form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Sauté the meatballs: Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Create the sauce base: In the same skillet, sprinkle flour and stir for one minute. Slowly add beef broth and bring to a simmer until thickened.
  5. Make it creamy: Add heavy cream to the sauce and stir well. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Serve the deliciousness: Serve meatballs with sauce over mashed potatoes or egg noodles for a satisfying meal.

Notes

Leftover meatballs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
