A delightfully fluffy Sweet Focaccia Bread, perfect for sharing and experimenting with toppings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup mixed berries or 1 tbsp cinnamon (for variations)
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil; mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Punch down the risen dough and spread it onto a greased baking sheet.
  8. Dimple the surface of the dough and add your chosen toppings (berries or dust with cinnamon).
  9. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle coarse salt on top.
  10. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a unique twist, try using peaches, cherries, or different spices for toppings. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
