Delight in these rich, peanut buttery cookie bars with sweet chocolate and festive M&M’s, perfect for celebrating love.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter (well-stirred)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt or table salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 3/4 to 1 cup Valentine-colored M&M’s
  • 2 tablespoons Valentine sprinkles (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling on top (optional)
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional drizzle)
  • 1 teaspoon neutral oil (optional drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and line it with parchment.
  2. Preheat the Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Combine the Wet Ingredients: Whisk butter and peanut butter, then add sugars and eggs.
  4. Mix the Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry: Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the Chocolate: Add chocolate chips and fold them into the dough.
  7. Press the Dough into the Pan: Evenly distribute the dough in the prepared pan.
  8. Add the Valentine Candies and Sprinkles: Press M&M’s into the dough and sprinkle with festive sprinkles.
  9. Bake: Bake for 18 to 24 minutes until edges are golden.
  10. Add Remaining Candies: Press reserved M&M’s on top right after baking.
  11. Cool Completely: Allow the bars to cool in the pan.
  12. Optional White Chocolate Drizzle: Melt white chocolate and drizzle over the cooled bars.
  13. Slice and Serve: Lift the bars out of the pan and cut into squares.
