  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt together.
  3. Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. If desired, add green food coloring and mix until evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar and add sprinkles before serving.

These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or frozen for up to three months.
