  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Create a well in the center and add buttermilk and melted butter.
  4. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead gently on a floured surface for about 30 seconds.
  6. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Score the top with a deep cross using a sharp knife.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
